Various possibilities of entering into research and production cooperation on new vaccines are being explored. The coordinator of activities in this area is the Medical Research Agency, said the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski.
A dozen or so days ago, the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (Chancellery of the Prime Minister), Michał Dworczyk, announced that one of the Polish companies is in advanced talks on a license for the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the findings of ISBzdrowie, it is Polfa Tarchomin – the oldest manufacturer of drugs in Poland and the only one whose shareholder is the State Treasury.
“When it comes to cooperation regarding vaccines, we are actually exploring a lot of possibilities, here the Prime Minister has assigned the leading role of the Medical Research Agency. And the Agency will be the coordinator of projects related to possible entering into such cooperation, cooperation – be it research or production. the time of the talks is ongoing “- said Niedzielski during the press conference.
As Jarosław Król, the president of Polfa Tarchomin, said in an interview with ISBzdrowa, the company is currently in talks with two companies about the contract manufacturing of vaccines against the coronavirus. By the end of September, a new ampoule plant will be ready, which will allow the product to be packaged, i.e. poured into ampoules. Polfa also has two sterile production lines, which – as the president assured – can be switched at any time to pouring COVID-19 vaccines into vials. The target production capacity of the ampoule plant is up to 40 million ampoules per year, and sterile lines – 2 million each per day.
