The number of millionaires in Slovakia is rising faster than inflation. In 2014, the figure increased to 4,200, a 9 percent gain that was twice the pace reported in other European countries, writes Sme, citing the World Wealth Report 2015 (by Capgemini and RBC Wealth Management). The growth of millionaires was boosted by an increase in GDP, as well as consumer demand and the capitalization of the Bratislava stock exchange, according to the report. Many wealthy individuals changed their investment patterns in the first quarter of 2015. While previously they tended to keep cash, shares have recently become a more popular investment instrument, according to the report. Property accounts for 17.6 percent of the investment portfolio of Slovak millionaires. The number of millionaires in Slovakia was just 2,770 as recently as 2009, the statistics show.
