Number of Polish dwellings completed fell by 16.9% y/y in July

The number of dwellings completed in July this year fell by 16.9% y/y to 14,481, while on a month-on-month basis it fell by 20.2%, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.

Developers completed 9,298 dwellings last month, down 12.6% year-on-year. On a monthly basis, there was a drop of 30%, GUS also reported.

According to preliminary data, 126.4 thousand dwellings were commissioned in January-July 2023, 0.2% less than in the same period of 2022. Developers commissioned 73.6 thousand dwellings – 0.3% more than a year ago, while individual investors commissioned 50.6 thousand dwellings, 2% less. Within these forms of construction, a total of 98.3% of the total number of newly completed dwellings were built. In the remaining forms of construction, i.e. cooperative, communal, social rented and company construction, a total of 2.2 thousand dwellings were completed (compared to 1.7 thousand the year before), reported by GUS.

The usable area of the completed dwellings amounted to 11.9 million m2, i.e. 1.6% less than a year ago, and the average usable area of 1 dwelling reached 93.8 m2, the Office also reported.
