The research company JATO Dynamics is reporting that for the first time ever, Škoda’s car model, the Octavia, came in third place in Europe in the monthly sales rankings. A total of 15,857 were sold, having been beaten ou only by Renault’s Clio (which sold 16,859) and the indominatable Volkswagen Golf (30,986). In other positive news for CEE carmakers, Dacie’s brands experienced a growth spurt in sales of 44 percent and its Sandero model was the fifth most sold in Europe (13,828), just behind VW’s Tiguan. The success in terms of market share for Octavia was achieved despite a dip in sales for August of 3.1 percent, however it’s doing better in specific markets than a year ago, including Germany.
