SŽDC, the Czech state company that oversees railway maintenance has signed a CZK 7bn contract with the contractor OHL ŽS for the construction of a new section of the railway corridor between Sudoměřice and Votice. It’s one of the largest infrastructure contracts to be handed out in recent years. The project will result in the modernization of one of last portions of the country’s fourth rail corridor to be updated. Its expense is in large part because of its technical complexity and will result in train speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour. Trains running between Prague and Tábor will be able to make the trip in one hour thanks to the construction of two tunnels
