Slovakia has made use of just 10 percent of the Euro funds that it was eligible for, according to Richard Sulík of the SaS opposition party. He blames the government of Robert Fico for the failure to do more to take advantage of the availability of funding. He says that by the end of 2018, the country has €2bn to spend but that it’s technically impossible to achieve this. “We’re losing out on eurofunds thanks to the inability of the government of Robert Fico,” he said. “One reason are the rules that were complicated by Fico and his government,” he continued, referring to a number of corruption scandals to have hit the government.
