Social Democratic Party (PSD), National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Conservative Party (PC) have held a congress at which they all pledged not to collaborate with the the PDL party and Traian Basescu.
They also agreed that Victor Ponta (PSD) – will run for prime minister while Crin Antonescu (PNL) would be the group’s candidate for president.
As prime minister, Ponta would push a set of measures designed to support economic recovery and to put Romania on a competitive footing in Europe.
It will also support the transformation of the presidential role to become a force in mediation that supports national cohesion rather than being one that furthers political partisanship.
