Ostrava Organica by developer CONTERA celebrates its grand opening

15 December 2022

The gap between OC Forum Nová Karolina and Ostrava’s historic Trojhali has already been filled with the rough construction of the Organica office building. On the site of a former brownfield site, an exceptional work is being built that will be environmentally friendly and use intelligent control systems. Since April, when the foundations of the building were completed, the rough construction has been taking place in early December and the project is celebrating the so-called glajcha that stands atop the building.

Organica, which was presented to the public in 2021 with construction starting in the autumn of the same year, was designed by Schindler Seko Architects. In addition to the specific arch-architectural concept, the organic shapes of the building are sensitively complemented with industrial elements and state-of-the-art technologies inside. The façade consists of windows with black aluminium shutters half a metre wide and high across the entire floor. The flaps make the building look different from different angles. Strips of perforated sheet metal will be placed between the floors. Organica is a distinctive solitaire with a symmetrical plan that imaginatively revolves around a publicly accessible circular atrium with greenery. The main tenant of the building is Tietoevry, other tenants include Individual Fitness and COKAFE. Organica is already 80% occupied. We will hand over the space to the first clients for use in the 2nd half of next year.” said CONTERA’s project director, Martin Budina.

Organica is CONTERA’s most ecologically advanced project to date, having already received an Excellent rating in the prestigious BREEAM certification. The distribution of fresh air for employees will be handled by an intelligent system. The building will be able to control the heating and cooling of the building itself according to the weather forecast, as it will include a weather station. Parking will be available via a mobile app and charging stations for electric cars and electric bikes will be available. USB charging of mobile devices will be possible at the benches located in the quiet area of the atrium. The project also includes a rainwater harvesting system for irrigation and photovoltaic panels that will make Organica partially energy self-sufficient.
