After investors such as Lion’s Head or MAS Real Estate entered the Romanian market, others are expected this year. “Besides local money, such as the Dedeman deal we saw last year, there is also Asian capital analyzing the market,” Bogdan Gubandru, Business Development Manager at Cushman & Wakefield Echinox said during CEDER. “We’re not sure if they will be able to transact this year, but for sure in the next 12 to 20 months we’re expecting to see some deals done,” Gubandru explained. He added that Chinese money is already on the market with the Logicor deal, while Korean investors have also expressed interest.
Nadia Badea, Partner at Clifford Chance Badea also said there is more interest from investors for Bucharest, which they see as their gateway to Romania. Ioana Niculeasa, Head of Real Estate at NNDKP added that, besides Bucharest, there are regional markets and cities like Cluj Napoca which are doing very well. “In Cluj Napoca we see a transaction made by a local player, so good projects will always find buyers,” she concluded.
