Home deliveries over the past year have set an absolute record for the residential market since 1989, with 72,522 homes completed nationwide, up 7 percent from 2020.
In Bucharest and Ilfov, a total of 22,010 homes were completed in 2021, an annual increase of 6 percent compared to 2020. On the other hand, a lower number of new deliveries compared to 2020 was made in Cluj (-15 percent), Brașov (-27 percent) or Bacău (-43 percent).
“2021 was a record year for the residential market in terms of completed homes and the fact that the vast majority of them were absorbed in a very short time by customers. 2022 is expected to be a more complicated year, both in the wake of rising prices for building materials and inflation, which reached 8.5 percent in February, and in the uncertainty caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine,” said Vlad Săftoiu, Head of Research, Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.
