The hall at Panattoni Park Chomutov North is the fourth project in a row that Amazon has taken over from Panattoni in the Czech Republic. The entire Panattoni Park Chomutov North project, which is financed by the RSJ investment group, stands out for its extensive investment in supporting biodiversity, including in the wider area surrounding the industrial zone. The hall itself also boasts environmental friendliness, which is confirmed by its aspirations for an Excellent rating under the BREEAM New Construction certification.
Panattoni has built a new production facility for Amazon near Chomutov, which will be used for automated T-shirt printing and custom accessories production as part of the “Amazon Merch on Demand” programme for the Czech and international markets. The size of Amazon’s operation in Hall A is almost 15,000 sqm. In the Czech Republic, Amazon already operates distribution centres in Dobrovíz near Prague and in Kojetin in the Přerov region. This is the fourth building Amazon has taken over from Panattoni in the Czech Republic in the last ten years.
“Panattoni has been a long-term and reliable partner for us in the construction of new centres. Thanks to their extensive expertise, we can provide our employees with modern and safe workplaces of appropriate quality. This also applies to the new hall near Chomutov, and we very much appreciate our cooperation so far,” says Michal Šmíd, Amazon’s General Manager for the Czech Republic.
“We are both very pleased and committed to Amazon, for whom Panattoni has been building industrial properties around the world since 1999. The leasable area for Amazon in the Czech Republic has grown to almost 355,000 sq m after the completion of the building at Panattoni Park Chomutov North. The common feature of all halls for Amazon is the emphasis on sustainability, minimal energy requirements and excellent facilities for employees, as evidenced by the high target values of BREEAM New Construction certification,” says Jiří Zita, Sales Director at Panattoni.
“We are delighted to have such a prestigious tenant coming to our hall. We wish Amazon every success. It is another signal for the Chomutov region that the industrial transformation there is going in the right direction,” comments Lukáš Musil, member of the Board of Directors of the RSJ Investment Group, on the handover of the hall.
The first tenant to take over its production space in Panattoni Park Chomutov North this March is Jungheinrich, a German supplier of intralogistics solutions. The latter has expanded its European forklift production capacity here.
“The interest of tenants from all over the world in expanding production to the Chomutov region is excellent news for this area, which is historically linked to coal mining. The whole region is facing a necessary economic restructuring in the coming years to a more modern and environmentally friendly type of industry. Panattoni Park Chomutov North now offers the last 39,000 sqm of lettable space in the area occupied by the production programme of Jungheinrich and Amazon. I am personally pleased that the project has been developed in close cooperation with local authorities,” says Klára Sobotková, Regional Development Director at Panattoni.
Panattoni Park Chomutov North boasts an extensive investment in supporting biodiversity also in the vicinity of the industrial zone. The 1.5 hectare bio-corridor with planted greenery consists of tree and shrub species with an emphasis on native species. Almost 450 trees and over 12 000 shrubs have been planted. The area will remain unfenced, naturally following the revitalisation of the adjacent riparian vegetation. Ponds have been excavated in suitable locations to increase local species diversity. Additional measures include meadow vegetation, bird boxes for various species of birds and bats, a reptile wall (especially for the protected lizard, which was also under bio-supervision during the construction works) and an insect hotel.
