Ioannis Papalekas, the owner of Globalworth Real Estate Investments, was called before the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) this week to answer questions regarding his involvement in an embezzlement and money laundering case, according to the newspaper Busa. The case is reportedly related to the investment companies SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) and SIF Muntenia (SIF4). One of his business partners, Dragos Bilteanu was previously held for 30 days by prosecutors, who are seeking evidence of a scheme to siphon money away from SIF Banat-Crisana and SIF Muntenia.
