Pardubice has no land for industrial investors

30 May 2024

Pardubice, which this year became the sixth City for Business in a comparative survey of the business potential of towns and municipalities in the region, cannot offer suitable land to investors in industry. There is still space in the city’s industrial zone in Staré Čívice, but noise limits prevent further construction. According to the health inspectors, the I/2 access road cannot be burdened with any more traffic. The situation is similar with the land near Pardubice Airport, which is owned by the Foundation for the Development of Pardubice, said Mayor Jan Nadrchal (ANO).

“Hygienists do not want to allow any further construction in the zone because of noise until the southeastern bypass is built. This also concerns the land near the airport, which is connected to the same road,” Nadrchal said.

According to him, there are privately owned development sites for light manufacturing in the city, but the town hall does not have suitable ones. Its former T.G.Masaryk barracks area should be used mainly for housing construction, a primary school is also being prepared, and another former army area, Hůrka, does not allow industrial use.

The construction of the south-eastern bypass of Pardubice has been under discussion since 2008, the previous proposal around the army airport was not approved by the Ministry of Defence in 2022. Newly, the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) proposed the route near Starý Mateřov in two variants, but again there were reservations. According to Nadrchal, the bypass cannot be expected to start construction before five years.
