Builders in the Pardubice region started construction of fewer flats last year than in the previous year. The decline was roughly ten percent. On the contrary, the number of completed flats increased by five percent. This is based on data from the Czech Statistical Office in Pardubice.
Last year, construction companies and individuals started building 1,888 flats in the region, which was 9.5 percent less than the previous year. Most flats were started in Pardubice region, over 1,000 of the total number. The fewest flats were built in the Svitavy region, 169 of them.
There were 1,940 completed flats in the region, a five per cent increase year-on-year. In Pardubice Region, 830 flats were built, which is the highest in the region. In terms of percentage comparison, the Svitavy region improved the most, with a 65.1 percent increase in completed housing construction to 411 flats. In the Orlickoústecko region, the number of completed flats decreased by 24.1 percent to 318 flats. As usual, flats in family houses prevailed in the region.
In the Czech Republic, both housing starts and completions fell year-on-year. Last year, construction started on 35,700 dwellings, down 15.5 per cent year-on-year. Completed flats totalled 38,082, 3.3 per cent less than the previous year.
