Pardubice wants to repair other empty, now uninhabitable apartments they own. For the modernization of houses in Husova Street with 90 flats, the city has already approved the elaboration of project documentation, another 50 scattered throughout the city will follow. City Hall is counting on an increase in the loan, according to Deputy Mayor Jan Mazuch (ODS).

“The goal is to put into operation first 30 and then a total of 50 apartments, which are not occupied by tenants, because they are uninhabitable. A loan would be used for that,” said Mazuch.

According to his idea, Pardubice could increase the current billion-dollar credit framework by 86 million crowns. 46 million crowns would be used to pre-finance bus terminal B, the remaining CZK 40 million would be used for housing.

“We would like to repair the 50 flats so that they bring the city a profit and so that we can satisfy the demands of citizens who are hungry for flats,” said ODS representative Petr Klimpl. According to him, the town hall has costs even with empty flats. At fifty, they cost about two million crowns a year, because they have to temper them, it is also important to pay the administrator and real estate tax.

Four apartment buildings in Husova Street had a reputation for problematic location, now most of the apartments are unoccupied. After the reconstruction, there will be 88 flats, of which 16 flats will be social and for the disabled, 25 will be for start-up housing, 35 flats will be set aside by the city for employees of municipal companies, 12 more luxurious flats will be in the attic. The total cost is estimated at 190 million crowns. The city wants to pay the investment from the rent in city flats, it will also look for suitable subsidies.
