No foreigners are currently allowed to enter Bulgaria, a ban that applies to all nationalities and that’s being enforced at all international borders, including air, sea, rail and road transport. The ban went into force on May 14 and will continue until June 14. The ban does not apply to Bulgarians and their family members, residents of Bulgaria, medical professionals, foreign officials, as well as foreign nationals working on infrastructure projects in Bulgaria. Seasonal workers and people traveling for humanitarian reasons will also be allowed in, however none will escape the duty of remaining in quarantine for 14 days.
The only exception is at the Serbian border, where Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva and the Serbian cabinet agreed to a partial opening of border crossings for people living in the border areas. These people will be able to work in another country without being subject to mandatory quarantine. The exception should benefit nearly 600 Bulgarians in that area.
