Passenger numbers jump 14% at Václav Havel Airport Prague

26 April 2016

Compared to 2015, passenger numbers at the Václav Havel Airport Prague rose 14 percent over the first quarter of this year, with 2.29m passengers handled. The majority of them came from the UK, Germany and Italy. Along with passengers, the number of planes taking off and landing was on the rise, as was the volume of transported cargo. Airport spokeswoman Marika Janoušková said that this is due to growing offer of connections as well as an increase in the capacity of existing carriers. The number of aircraft movements achieved in Q1 2016, 27,000, marked a rise of 11 percent y-o-y, while cargo volume increased 34.6 percent to 15 tons. Airport officials expect a 7 percent rise in the number of passengers, to be added to the 12 million that used the facility in 2015, when y-o-y growth was 8 percent.
