More than 547,000 passengers passed through the state-owned Port of Tallinn in January, up 5.5 percent from the previous year. The Tallinn-Helsinki route saw the biggest passenger load, followed by Tallinn-Stockholm and Tallinn-St. Petersburg. The Estonian shipping company Tallink Grupp served 66 percent of the volume, while the Finnish companies Viking Line and Eckero Line served served 21 percent and 11 percent respectively, and Russia’s St. Peter Line took 2 percent of the monthly load. Nearly 370 passenger ships passed through the ports in January.
“It is a good sign that more and more passengers pass through our ports. Compared to last year, more passengers came in from Finland, Sweden as well as St. Petersburg. In addition, eight more passenger ships visited us,” said Sirle Arro, head of communications at Port of Tallinn.
