PATRIZIA leased 17,800 sqm of office space in Munich’s Werksviertel to the globally operating German chemical company Wacker Chemie.
In December 2020, PATRIZIA acquired the MK7 property as a project development, which is now fully let on a long-term basis. Wacker Chemie AG, which operates 26 production sites in Europe, Asia and America and employs around 14,300 people worldwide, wants to use the MK7 property as its group headquarters. Completion is planned for 2023.
The new office building has first-class equipment with state-of-the-art building technology, flexible areas and roof gardens on different floors. The aim was to create high-quality office space that would meet the requirements of current and future users, strengthen the well-being of employees and enable collaborative work. The building complies with the ESG standards of Wacker and PATRIZIA and, upon completion, will receive LEED platinum status, the highest level in sustainability certification.
“Already in the planning phase of MK7 we paid special attention to flexibility, efficiency and sustainability. That has proven itself. While many office tenants put their search on hold during the pandemic and reconsidered their space requirements, Wacker continued to look for new corporate headquarters. With this lease, Wacker has secured ultra-modern, sustainable office space in one of the most sought-after locations in Munich, ” said Mirjam Link, Regional Manager of the Munich Office and Head of Real Estate Development Germany South.
The Werksviertel in the east of Munich has developed into a trendy, mixed-use office district in recent years. It combines old and new with a mixture of historic factory buildings and contrasting modern structures. The area is well connected to public transport to and from the Ostbahnhof and can be easily reached by train, underground, bus, car, bike or on foot.
PATRIZIA and Wacker were advised by CBRE.
