Women were the biggest gainers in the Czech Republic as the average monthly wage has gone over CZK 35,000. The Czech Statistics Office reporte that wages rose on average 5.1 percent in the third quarter of 2020 to CZK 35,402. This meant that employees are earning CZK 1,716 than a year ago, which translates into a 1.7 percent raise in real terms when inflation is factored in. The median wage came in at CZK 31,183. Women’s pay package rose 6.7 percent during the third quarter, while men improved their earnings by just 3.7 percent. Overall, men still make more on average than women. The improvement in wages came despite the fact that unemployment has been rising gradually. A total of 274,500 people, or 3,7 percent, are currently jobless, the highest figure since 2016.
