The payment of creditors of the bankrupt Sberbank through Komerční banka ends today. The payout began on 18 March and was originally supposed to last until 15 April, but the Municipal Court in Prague extended the deadline twice at the request of insolvency administrator Jiřina Lužová. The reason was the high number of unpaid creditors.
The payout requires an active approach of creditors, they must submit documents to verify their identity and make the payout. Individuals can go to any branch of Komerční banka to receive a payout. Legal entities must go to Komerční banka’s corporate centres or can contact their corporate banker directly. An online application can be submitted for payouts up to a maximum of CZK 100,000.
The Prague City Court declared bankruptcy on Sberbank CZ at the end of August last year after the Czech National Bank finally revoked its banking licence in early May. The CNB initiated the steps to revoke the licence on 28 February 2022. The reason was the deterioration of Sberbank CZ’s situation due to the outflow of deposits after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
