PayPal has recently changed its business model for Serbia in ways that will make it considerably less attractive for consumers. All those who linked their PayPal account to a foreign currency account in one of the domestic banks through this platform were able to transfer and withdraw money in foreign currency at a fixed commission rate.
Now PayPal automatically will be converting all foreign currency amounts into RSD, at a very unfavorable exchange rate. The National Bank of Serbia says it’s aware of the new plan when transferring money to accounts in Serbia, but insists that local regulations played no role in PayPal’s decision.
