PAŻP: The number of operations at Polish airports increased by 150% y / y in December

The number of air operations at all Polish airports amounted to 33,329 in December 2021, an increase of 150% y / y, but a decrease of 21% compared to December 2019, reported The Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP) in the report prepared on the basis of its own and Eurocontrol data.

The number of all air operations, including transit flights over the territory of the Republic of Poland, in December last year. was 52,095, which means an increase by 75% y / y, but a decrease by 34% compared to the same period of 2019, it was also reported.

The average monthly number of daily air operations, including due to Christmas and New Year trips, slightly increased and exceeded 1.6 thousand flights and amounted to 1,680 flights versus 2,584 in 2019 and versus 958 in 2020. It is also worth adding that the number of 1,400 air operations was exceeded every day in December 2021. The busiest day in the previous month and at the same time one of the three record days in 2021 was on December 17, when we handled 2,022 air operations, it was announced.

The airlines that performed the most flights in Polish space in December 2021 where:

– Ryanair – 16% (8,355 flights);

– LOT Polish Airlines – 14% (7,293 flights);

– Wizz Air – 10% (5,209 flights);

– Lufthansa – 5% (2,604 flights);

– Turkish Airlines – 4% (2,083 flights).

The above-mentioned carriers handled 49% of air traffic, which is 25,527 flights in Polish space, it was also stated.

It was emphasized that the comparisons were made on the basis of data for an operating day or week, e.g. Monday in a similar period last year, and not on a date-to-date basis. The presented data comes from the Network Manager systems and contains information about GAT IFR traffic without General Aviation traffic.
