Penta Investments has bought a chain of pharmacy stores called Novolékárna. The investment group has renamed 11 of the 13 stores it acquired from Novopharma to Dr. Max. The stores are now part of the pharmacy chain Penta operates in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Česká lékárna holding, which operates Penta’s pharmacies, acquired a 100-percent stake in Novolékárna’s two Lithuanian operators: Novopharma and EKO Apotéka. The price of the transaction has not been disclosed.

The Novolékárna stores are located mainly in retail parks next to Albert, Globus and Kaufland hypermarkets. Dr. Max has taken over Novolékárna in Brno, Domažlice, Chomutov, Jablonec n/Nis, Liberec, Orlová, Pardubice, Trmice and Třebíč. The transaction has brought the number of Dr. Max pharmacies to 357 and its market share to 14 percent.
