Penta Real Estate is organizing an international architectural competition for its residential development at the former Žižkov cargo station in Prague 3. Five studios will be awarded €10,000 for advancing to the second and final round of the competition, with the jury to be made up of representatives of the developer, the city and by independent architects. Penta’s director for residential construction David Musil told the Czech News Agency that the brownfield site will eventually accommodate up to 1,000 new flats, once all the projects planned there are completed. Central Group and Sekyra Group are also planning projects for the old station complex, where a construction ban is still in effect pending a change to the master plan. Penta Real Estate is working together with Czech Railways and SUDOP in a consortium name Railreal on the project which envisions around 500 new apartments. Construction is expected to begin in 2021.
