Penta submits planning for Zaha Hadid building at Masaryk station

27 February 2020

Penta Real Estate has submitted planning documentation for its project that would transform the Masaryk railway station in central Prague. Thanks to the usual obstructions and political intrigue, it’s taken the developer nearly a decade just to get the project to this point, even though it employed a superstar architect to carry out the design. Aktualne.cz’s headline for the story references this last fact: “The last battle for Zaha Hadid’s monument has begun”. The construction site has already been cleared and an archaeological study was carried out, leading Penta to hope that construction could start before the end of the year. The project includes offices and retail and the creation of a public terrace and walkway over the station’s tracks to connect Opletalova street with Na Florenci.
