Permit values in Orlando triple

A new report from Dodge Date & Analytics shows that Orlando area commercial permit values nearly tripled in March year on year. Builders pulled permits for projects valued totaling $85.1 million in March up from March 2014’s total of $29.8 million. Homebuilders last month pulled construction permits for projects totaling $338.4 million, a 15 percent increase from the year earlier period’s $294.3 million. Commercial and residential building permits rose 30 percent last month, from a combined $324.1 million last year to $423.5 million this year.

For the first quarter of 2015 total building permit values increased 8 percent last year to $1.2 billion this year. Commercial building permits accounted for $278.4 million of that first quarter total this year, which was a 10 percent increase from first-quarter 2014’s $254.1 million. And home construction permit values were at $937 million in the first quarter, up 8 percent from $869.7 million for the same period a year prior.
