Four coking chambers at the Petrobrazi refinery will be replaced by OMV Petrom. They will go into service in 2023, replacing the current ones, which have been in service since 1989. The project was launched in 2020. Approximately EUR 25 million has been invested up to this point. The overall cost of replacing the coking chambers is EUR 70 million.

“The replacement of the coking chambers is an essential project for the Petrobrazi refinery. Our investment in this project will improve the efficiency and safety of our operations. The coking chambers will be replaced during the two-month general overhaul planned for the first half of 2023,” said Radu Căprău, member of the OMV Petrom board.

The Petrobrazi refinery has a total capacity of 4.5 million tons of crude oil processing per year. Since 2005, OMV Petrom has invested more than EUR 1.8 billion in the Petrobrazi refinery, with one-third of this investment going toward reducing environmental impact.
