Polish support for Ukraine and refugees has reached PLN 35-40 billion this year, according to Polish Development Fund (PFR) Vice President Bartosz Marczuk. Spending on arms transferred to Ukraine is about PLN 10 billion, support for Ukrainian refugees directly from the state budget is about PLN 6 billion, and aid from local governments and NGOs is about PLN 10 billion. The remaining about PLN 10 billion is private aid from Poles.
“Poland in FY22 incurred a large effort to help UKR-about 35-40mld (arms 10,private10,non-governmental aid from the budget6,local governments/ngo10),” Marczuk wrote on Twitter.
The PFR deputy chairman reported that as of the end of November this year, refugees were receiving 500+ benefits for 328,000 children, 12,000 children were receiving Family Care Capital benefits, 141,000 children were receiving 300+ benefits, and 35,000 children were receiving family benefits.
At the same time, more than 1 million people received the special 300 zloty start-up benefit.
“The system created by the government (first aid, eventually work) – works well,” Marczuk added.
There are currently about 950,000 refugees in Poland. Including those who came to Poland before the war, there are 2.3 million Ukrainians in our country.
