Pilsen will spend a third of CZK 2.76 billion budget expenditures on investments

This year, Pilsen will spend a third of its total budget expenditures on investments, ie 2.76 billion crowns. Last year, it was 29 percent of expenditures of CZK 7.54 billion, which were a billion lower than this year’s plan. The city will spend the most money this year on the TechTower science and technology park and a tram depot, both in the Slovany district. The city will also build dozens of flats in Zátiší, the Krašovská multi-purpose hall and the facilities of the youth football training center in Štruncovy sady and Luční street, announced Mayor Pavel Šindelář (ODS)

“We will also start replenishing the water in the Great Bolevec Pond. We will complete the SK Neslyšících complex, build beach volleyball in Prokopávka,” said Šindelář.

The city will spend CZK 329 million this year on TechTower, which will be created by the reconstruction of the former barracks and the Světovar brewery. The construction for more than CZK 570 million is to be completed in October, with CZK 180 million from EU funds. The city features lager cellars with a 32-meter water tower and an administrative villa. “The goal of the technology park is to keep interesting and innovative technical, technological and business projects and start-ups in Pilsen,” said the mayor.

The modernization of the Slovany tram depot, which according to Šindelář is one of the largest investment projects in the history of the city’s transport companies, should be completed at the end of November. The company received a subsidy of CZK 720 million for the construction for CZK 1.7 billion. In addition to modern technology and facilities, there will be 13,500 square meters of green roofs. CZK 205 million will go to 102 new flats 1 + kk to 4 + kk in Zátiší this year. They will be ready by the end of September. The construction of the sewerage and water supply system in Koterov will end in July and will come with VAT of CZK 254 million, this year the city will spend the remaining CZK 133 million on it.

In the spring, Pilsen will also begin construction of a facility for refilling water in Bolevecký rybník, the largest recreational area in Pilsen. It will be a collection facility near Berounka, a water treatment plant building in the area of ​​the wastewater treatment plant and a pipeline that will transfer water between the river, the treatment plant and the pond. It will be possible to replenish water at least nine months a year, up to 20 liters per second. Trial operation is scheduled to begin in September.

The multi-purpose Krašovská sports hall for 150 million crowns will be ready in August. It will play badminton, handball, floorball, volleyball, basketball, futsal, aerobics and dance. The youth training center in Štruncovy sady, which will start construction in the spring and last 13 months, has a budget of CZK 100 million this year. The SK Neslyšících sports complex will be built next to the new Krašovská hall and will serve as a replacement for the current hall in Lobzy. The construction is to start in March and will last 15 months, this year Pilsen will spend 58 million crowns on it.

Reconstruction of the tram line in Plaská Street from Studentská to Tachovská has already begun. The construction for 64 million crowns will end in the spring. Pilsen will also repair the festive lighting of the central square, including the old lighting of the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. He will also build and rebuild a cycle path from Liliová to the Lesser Town Bridge on the banks of the Radbuza. From June to the end of the year, Kaplířova-Dobřanská will build facilities for drivers, a café and rental commercial units for 30 million. By the end of the year, the city will also renovate the northwestern tip of Borský Park for CZK 38 million, where it will create a “gateway” to the largest park. There will be a one-storey building with a cafe, bicycle rental and public toilets.
