Poland’s conservative party PiS (Law and Justice) wants to introduce the EU’s new tax on financial transactions. The financial transaction tax (EU FTT) is expected to be introduced by the majority of EU countries by the end of next year.
Market observers point out the new tax could reduce a number of short-term speculative transactions. At the same time, according to the Tax Policy Center, it will encourage long-term investments, which will help pay off the national debt. On the other hand, the new tax could hurt some economic sectors, market watchers say.
