PKO BP plans to open a corporate branch in Bucharest in Q2 2022.

The opening of a corporate branch of PKO Bank Polski in Bucharest is planned for the second quarter of 2022. Until this project is developed, the bank will not enter other countries, informed the vice president supervising the area of ​​international and transactional banking and cooperation with local governments and government agencies Maks Kraczkowski.

“We will be thinking about the next steps when we finish the Romanian project. We do not exclude them, but we follow the principle of contribution to the bank’s result and customer support. These are not marketing activities, these are business projects, we are very proud of it,” said Kraczkowski during a press conference.

Earlier, the bank announced that it had started work on opening a branch in Romania and plans to enter this market in 2022.

PKO Bank Polski is already present in Germany, where the bank’s corporate branch is systematically increasing its operating result (+ 5.3% q / q), in the Czech Republic, and from 2020 also in Slovakia. The number of clients of the bank’s foreign branches at the end of the second quarter of 2021 was 51.3% higher than in the previous year, and the volume of trade finance amounted to PLN 3.1 billion, which means an increase of almost 140% y / y.

The PKO BP group is also present in Ukraine, where it holds 100% shares in KredoBank. At the end of 2020, it was among the top ten largest retail lenders in Ukraine. In the second quarter of 2021, KredoBank recorded 3.1% an increase in the result on business activities and plans to quickly open its own leasing company.

PKO Bank Polski is the leader of the Polish banking sector. The bank’s total assets amounted to PLN 381 billion at the end of 2020. Since November 2004, the bank’s shares have been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
