PKP PLK has announced four tenders for a total of approx. PLN 4.6 billion

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) has announced four tenders with a total estimated value of PLN 4.6 billion. The proceedings concern the modernization of the railway line No. 104 Chabówka – Nowy Sącz, Ostróda station, works on the railway line No. 6, section Geniusze – Kuźnica Białostocka and the reconstruction of the Katowice Szopienice – Katowice – Katowice Piotrowice route, the railway infrastructure manager said.

“At the beginning of the year, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA has already announced tenders with an estimated value of about PLN 11 billion. In this pool, tasks for PLN 4.6 billion are announced today: a project important for Katowice, agglomeration and crossing the Silesian Voivodeship, important projects for the line Chabówka – Nowy Sącz No. 104, to the Ostróda station and a project important for freight traffic related to the Geniusze i Kużnica Białostocka station,” said president Ireneusz Merchel.

The announced tender for the modernization of the railway line No. 104 covers the Chabówka – Rabka Zaryte section and the Klęczany – Nowy Sącz siding. The target effect of the investment will be the resumption of regular passenger connections on the Chabówka – Nowy Sącz railway route. Electrification will also be performed, PKP PLK reported.

The modernization of the Ostróda station will include the reconstruction of platforms, tracks and an underpass.

Another investment by PKP PLK will restore, after almost thirty years, the possibility of transporting and unloading goods at the station in Geniuszki near Sokółka. Works will also be carried out on the railway line from Geniusz to Kuźnica Białostocka. Railway traffic control devices will be installed. The control room planned for the Local Control Center will be built in Sokółka, it further announced.

In turn, on the route Katowice Szopienice Płd. – Katowice – Katowice Piotrowice, construction of three new stops is planned (Katowice Uniwersytet, Katowice Akademia and Katowice Kokociniec. Katowice Brynów stop will be moved to the A4 motorway. PLK’s investment will include the modernization of stations and stops: Katowice Szopienice Południowy, Katowice Zawodzie, Katowice and Katowice Ligota. Two tracks will be built on the section and the agglomeration and long-distance traffic will be separated.Comprehensive modernization of the line will include the addition of approx. 22 km of new tracks, reconstruction of 100 km of tracks and 140 engineering structures. Approximately 133 km of the traction network will be replaced. construction of the Katowice Local Control Center, from which traffic officers managed the traffic on the line from Sosnowiec to Tychy.
