Planning changes submitted for Miami Word Expo Center Marriott

17 October 2016

MDM Development Group has submitted revised plans to the city of Miami’s Urban Design Review Board for the Miami World Expo Center Marriott. The developer has proposed to reduce the hotel tower’s height from 636’-4” feet and 54 stories to 572’-1” feet and 53 stories and to reduce the total number of hotel units from 1,800 to 1,700. Its proposed changes would also decrease the total number of off-street parking spaces from 1,250 to 1,128 spaces and to divide construction into two phases. Also included in the redesign is a proposal to change the hotel tower from a single curved tower to two separate towers that will also improve the flow of light and air, and views for hotel guests and neighboring properties. If the changes are approved MDM is targeting a start date of Q1 2017.
