Planning for completion of D11 to Poland submitted

14 October 2019

The Czech Highway Authority (RSD) has submitted documentation for planning permits it needs to begin construction of a nearly 41 kilometer stretch of motorway that would connect Prague to the Polish border. Work on the D11 motorway to Hradec Kralove began in 1978, but it took until 2017 until the city was connected with the Czech capital. Construction has already begun to extend the road north towards Jaroměř, but the submission of planning documents for the final stretch to Poland represents a major breakthrough. This final stretch is expected to cost CZK 22bn. Even as new kilometers are being added to the D11, its oldest sections are in need of repair. Reconstruction work on the first 8 kilometers of the motorway were finished in Septeber at a cost of CZK 56m.
