Planning moves forward for Smíchov re-development

31 January 2013

The City of Prague has opened the way for an extensive redevelopment of the area around the Smíchov railway station in Prague 5 by approving a crucial change to the master plan. The plan should soon allow for the re-development of the 210,000 sqm zone between the Na Knížecí bus terminal and the railway station, to create a new neighborhood with new residential schemes, a shopping mall, a park and a kindergarten. The costs of the project could reach CZK 15bn.
“The city council agreed, but the deputies still have to express their opinion,” deputy mayor Tomáš Hudeček told the website e15. The project could be completed within 20 years, according to the developer Sekyra Group, which won a city tender for the project.
