24 February 2012

After Brussels blocking its funds for Poland’s regional program Innovative Economy due to its failure to meet some of the conditions required of all recipients, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has commited the Regional Development Ministry to solve the problem by March 2. “We need to be prepared that European institutions will be restrictive about spending EU’s funds,” Prime Minister Tusk said on Thursday, adding that he would be watching the ministry’s steps in the matter carefully. Ministry officials admitted yesterday that it had known about the deficiencies since the summer, however it did not say why they were not disclosed, or resolved.
