Poczta Polska signed a contract with Beumer Group Poland for the purchase of three sorters for automatic sorting of CEP shipments (courier, express and parcel), for a total amount of approximately PLN 158 million, the company said. It is the largest one-off investment in the automation of logistics processes in the history of Poczta Polska. Together with accompanying investments, the company will spend over PLN 200 million on it.
The contract provides for the purchase and assembly of three, fully automated sorters of the latest generation, which will successively supply sorting plants in Wrocław (in 2022), as well as in Lisie Ogon near Bydgoszcz and Lublin (in 2023).
“Poczta Polska carries out the largest ever investment in the automation of logistics processes. This and the next investment outlays, implemented over the next three years, are necessary for the stable development of the company. The level of investment in relation to revenues will exceed the current average for other postal operators and in 2021 -2023 will amount to approx. 5.8%, it will also exceed the current expenditure incurred by Poczta Polska. In 2019 it was only 1.2%, and in 2020 already 3.4%, this shows the strategic acceleration of Poczta,” said the president Tomasz Zdzikot.
The technology used allows for the automatic reading of not only standardized address labels, but also international shipments, which often have a non-standard address data arrangement.
“Later this year, we will change the network of our transport connections to ensure delivery to courier parcels the day after the day of posting (D + 1), we will also propose new, attractive Pocztex courier services, and we will supplement the largest network of collection points in Poland with several thousand parcel machines. in this way, we respond to the growing expectations of customers and the intensive development of the e-commerce sector. We want Poczta Polska to be a leader on the CEP market,” added vice president of Poczta Polska, Andrzej Bodziony.
The sorter in Wrocław will distribute shipments up to the level of drop-off points and delivery areas thanks to 190 slides. The sorter in Lisie’s Tail will distribute shipments to 159 slides, and the machine planned for the logistics center in Lublin will have 178 slides.
Poczta Polska, in line with its strategy, plans to increase its share in the CEP market (courier, express, parcel services), in line with the upward trend in e-commerce. One of the key areas of the company’s development is investments in automatic machinery.
Over the next three years, the Post Office will spend PLN 1.2 billion on logistics development and IT development, of which approximately PLN 400 million this year.
