Poczta Polska signed a contract for the supply of 2,000 parcel machines with the P2A BOX and Pakpobox Ltd. consortium, Poczta announced. The operator plans to allocate approximately PLN 300 million over several years for the development of its own network of external parcel machines, which will be positioned in e-commerce under the Pocztex Automat brand.
The first several hundred of Poczta Polska parcel machines will be made available to customers in spring 2022, and by the end of 2022, a total of 2,000 machines will be launched.
“We have just signed a contract for the supply of parcel machines to provide customers with a network of 2,000 such devices in 2022. In the next few years, we plan to allocate about 300 million to the development of our own network of parcel machines. We want to be even more competitive for both recipients. individuals and our business partners, providing them with the expected highest quality of services provided,” said the president of Poczta Polska, Tomasz Zdzikot.
Pocztex Automat devices will be equipped with a touch screen and a payment terminal enabling payment by credit card or BLIK when sending parcels or picking up cash on delivery. There are also facilities for customers with special needs, such as a special keyboard for the blind and visually impaired, as well as voice control.
Parallel to the launch of the vending machines, Poczta Polska plans to launch a mobile application, providing, inter alia, functionality of sending Pocztex parcels, their tracking and collection from automatic parcel machines. The software developer will be Poczta Polska Usługi Cyfrowe. Poczta Polska has already concluded a contract for the implementation of a comprehensive IT solution, including, in addition to a mobile application for smartphones, access to a dedicated Customer Panel for people using computers, it was also stated.
The post office has also simplified the offer of domestic parcel services, which will ultimately consist of only two products: universal parcels and Pocztex courier services. The current Paczka +, Ekspres 24, Kurier 48, City Courier, Domestic Courier and Direct Courier services will be replaced with Pocztex services provided in the D + 1 standard (the next day after posting).
“The new offer of courier services is significantly simplified, adapted to the market requirements of customers. We modify the product portfolio and at the same time raise the standards of service, we implement dedicated functionalities,” said the president.
As part of the new offer, Pocztex introduces 5 shipping formats (S, M, L, XL, 2XL). This change is extremely important as the service fees will depend on the format of the shipment and not on its weight, as it has been so far, underlined.
Starting from September this year. Poczta Polska is also gradually introducing changes to the visual identification of the Pocztex brand, consisting in refreshing and modernizing the service logo, rebranding costumes and courier equipment.
The strategic partner of Poczta in the area of locating parcel machines is Jeronimo Martins Polska – the owner of the Biedronka chain of stores. In the first half of 2022, Pocztex machines will be installed in at least 750 locations next to Biedronka stores throughout the country.
