Poland has adopted its first ever law regulating offshore wind development. This new law aims to help the country transition away from fossil fuels as well as become in the future the biggest player in offshore wind in the Baltic Sea. Currently, Poland has no offshore wind capacity, while over 70 percent of its electricity is produced from coal and 10 percent from natural oil or gas. Hovewer, onshore wind is the biggest source of renewable energy in Poland, accounting for 10 percent of total electricity production.
