Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover has selected Slovakia’s city of Nitra to build its next factory. The Indian concern confirmed it has signed a letter of intent with the Slovakian government, following reports of the deal in the Financial Times. Slovakia beat Poland, Hungary and Mexico in the race to conclude a deal for the factory, which should produce 300,000 cars per year.
The news is a blow to Poland, as it the Sunday Times reported just days ago that Poland had won the day thanks to offering nearly €600m worth of incentives. Slovakia had offered just €425m. Slovakia’s government claimed the Times had jumped the gun and that negotiations with the investor were still underway.
