Large international companies, such as Volkswagen, Danone, Amazon, Pepsi, have either stopped operating or have withdrawn from Russia and are starting production elsewhere. Poland may benefit from this – since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, only approx. 2,000 have appeared in the automotive industry. additional jobs, and there may be more sectors that will increase their production capacity in Poland, assesses Personnel Service.
“Already, the list of European, American and Asian companies that suspend their operations or withdraw from Russia and Belarus is made up of hundreds of entities. These include companies from the automotive, heavy and food industries. Thousands are withdrawing from Russia and Belarus. orders, which will be partially carried out in other places, including in our country. This trend is slowly beginning to be visible mainly in the automotive and food production. This is good news for our market, especially in view of the large influx of refugees from Ukraine, especially women. If we create additional jobs, it will also be a chance for them to find employment. Especially that a special act is already in force in our country, which opens the labor market for refugees,” said Krzysztof Inglot, Personnel Service expert.
Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine on February 24 this year, hundreds of companies have announced that they are ceasing operations or are withdrawing from Russia and Belarus. These are huge enterprises such as Danone, Pepsi, Volkswagen, Audi, Apple, Amazon, Boeing, Daimler, Dell, Lidl or DHL are mentioned in the announcement.
“We can already see that some of these companies are looking for places where they can fulfill their orders withdrawn from Russia. Their eyes are often turned to Poland, which proved its flexibility and quick adaptation to the prevailing conditions in the pandemic. Our labor market has recovered from this. crisis unscathed – we have record-low unemployment, high professional activity rate, and international analyzes indicate that Poland has returned to the pre-pandemic market indicators the fastest,” the company stated.
The President of Employers of the Republic of Poland, Rafał Baniak, points out that it will not be possible to support enterprises in the war crisis in a manner known from the pandemic period, because aid programs re-financed from the central bank would threaten macroeconomic stability.
“Today, the role of tens of billions of zlotys thrown to help companies can be played by deregulation measures, eliminating unnecessary burdens on employers. Antibiotic and pro-business efforts must be on a large scale in order to be as effective as possible in the solutions used in the pandemic,” added Baniak.
The observations of the Personnel Service show that companies that withdrew or suspended their activities in Russia and Belarus are now creating jobs in Poland.
“The automotive sector stands out, where approximately 2,000 additional jobs have been created in Ukraine since the outbreak of the war. This is because the largest manufacturers, such as Volkswagen, Volvo Cars, Aston Martin, Jaguar Land Rover, are withdrawing from Russia. , BMW, Daimler. Foreign manufacturers and suppliers of components are also resigning, including Magna and Aptiv,” it further announced.
Automotive is not the only sector where more jobs are created. The increased demand for employees is also visible, among others in the food industry, heavy industry, shipbuilding and even train production. It is in these companies and factories that not only Poles will find work, but also Ukrainians who fled their homeland before the war and found shelter in our country, the company emphasized.
“The sanctions against Russia may turn out to be an impulse for development for several sectors in Poland, including the heavy and metallurgical industries. It is also a chance for new jobs that we will need, especially since we are already in Poland. More than 1.1 million refugees from Ukraine arrived, and thanks to the introduced special act, they will be able to easily join the Polish labor market and it can be expected that many of them will take advantage of this opportunity,” summed up Inglot.
