Retail shop prices rose by an average of 6.7% y/y in November this year, according to a report by UCE Research and WSB Merito University. In the previous two months, the increases were respectively: 8.1% and 10.1% y/y.
Of the 17 categories monitored this November, 10 items y/y showed single-digit growth and six showed double-digit growth. In contrast, one group of goods recorded a decline, it indicated.
The ranking of the most expensive categories, as in October and September, is opened by food additives – this time with an increase of 21.3% y/y. In second place are soft drinks with an increase of 15.5% y/y. Also in the top three is household chemicals, which was previously in second place, having recently increased in price by 13.8% y/y. Fourth are children’s goods with an increase of 13.1% y/y. The top five is rounded off by bread with an increase of 12.5% y/y. Among the double-digit growth categories are also sweets and desserts, with an increase of 11.5% y/y. The rest of the increases are in single digits. On the negative side are only fatty foods with a fall of as much as 24.9% y/y, according to the report.
The ‘Retail Price Index’ study looked at 17 categories and more than 100 of the most frequently chosen everyday products by consumers. In total, more than 66,700 retail prices were collated from more than 30,500 shops belonging to 60 retail chains.
