Poland’s labor market picking up

26 March 2014

Local observers expect the Polish labor market to improve this year. However, analysts polled by the Polish Press Agency (PAP) point out that while recovery is already underway for the country, with the number of positive signals gradually increasing, Russia-Ukraine geopolitical tension may slow the process significantly.

Poland’s Ministry of Labour and Social Policy estimates that the unemployment rate for Poland stood at 14 percent last month. According to Poland’s National Statistical Office (GUS) the jobless rate for the country dropped by 0.1 percent in February to 13.9 percent, a significant improvement from 14.4 percent posted in the same period last year.
