While waiting for new product to arrive to Poland, local specialists have set up an association to lobby for the introduction of REITs (Real Estate Investment Funds). The new body, made up of experts, lawyers and financial advisors aims at increasing awareness about this type of investment vehicle among Polish investors.
“Poland’s real estate market is among most attractive Europe’s markets. While the Polish property market has been developing dynamically over the past 25 years, the role of domestic investors in the process has been insignificant,” says Małgorzata Kosińska, president of REIT Polska.
Operating as an investment fund, or a company, REIT vehicles invest in existing real estate assets, while paying out regular dividends to their investors. REITs were established mainly for stock market investors, in effort to make it possible for them to be investing in core real estate products.
