Poland: Tourists using accommodation increased by 36.5% y / y in September

According to estimates, the number of tourists using accommodation increased by 36.5% y / y to 3 million in September this year, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported. In September 2021, tourists were provided with 7.7 million nights, i.e. 28.1% more than in the corresponding month of last year, (6 million).

Based on the results of the survey, 3 million tourists stayed in tourist accommodation establishments in September this year, including 2.6 million domestic tourists and 0.4 million foreign tourists. Compared to September 2020, the total number of tourists was higher by 36.5%, with the number of domestic tourists increasing by 36%, and foreign tourists by 39.8%. An increase in the number of domestic tourists (by 0.3%) was also recorded compared to the corresponding month of 2019, it was announced.

In September 2021, tourists were provided with 7.7 million nights, i.e. 28.1% more than in the corresponding month of last year, (6 million). Domestic tourists took advantage of 6.7 million overnight stays (in September 2020 – 5.2 million), while foreign tourists – over 1 million (in September 2020 – 0.8 million). An increase in the number of nights spent by domestic tourists was also recorded compared to the corresponding month of 2019 (an increase by 3.2%), the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.

In September 2021, the occupancy rate was 38.2% and was 7.7 percentage points higher than in September 2020.

In August 2021, 3.9 million tourists stayed in tourist accommodation facilities, with 12.7 million overnight stays. Compared to August 2020, it was more by 20.1% and 18.8%, respectively. Among all tourists, 89% were domestic tourists (3.4 million), while 11.0% were foreign tourists (0.4 million). Compared to August 2020, it was by 18.7% and 33.0% more, respectively, the Office reported.
