Poles still to need US visas

9 March 2012

The Poles will not be included in the US visa waiver program despite a promise by Barack Obama last December that by the end of his presidency, Poles wouldn’t need a visa to enter the country. During Poland’s Foreign Ministry Radosław Sikorski visit in the US secretary of State Hilary Clinton admitted that Obama hadn’t managed to deliver on the promise, while adding that the work on the legislation continues. “We are working very hard with Congress to try to get that legislation through. I will be very honest with you: We have strong support and we have strong opposition, and so we need to work together to redouble our efforts,” she said during a joint press conference in Washington. During his three-day visit in US, Sikorski is also to meet with business leaders on Polish-American trade.
