The police intervened today at the Brno municipality. This was confirmed by the municipality spokesman Filip Poňuchálek. But he did not say anything more. The police officers intervene in the housing department and are also in the office of the mayor’s deputy Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL). Jaroslav Ibehej, the spokesman of the National Central Office against Organized Crime, confirmed the information, but did not provide any further information.
“I can state that today our department is carrying out criminal proceedings. Information is reserved for the High Prosecutor’s Office in Olomouc,” said Ibehej.
Hladík, the current deputy mayor and People’s Party deputy chairman, should replace the Minister of the Environment Anna Hubáčková (KDU-ČSL) in the government, who submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Petr Fial (ODS) at the beginning of October, citing health reasons.
The police recently intervened in Brno because of apartments in connection with the Brno-střed town hall. Eight people are accused in connection with this part of the city, two of them are in custody. One is the chairman of the housing committee and ODS politician Otakar Bradáč, the other is the executive of a real estate agency Zdeněk Červinka.
