Police are investigating the reconstruction of the Špalíček apartment building in Příbram. The construction company or the construction supervisor may have made mistakes that could have caused damage, Mayor Jan Konvalinka (ANO) said yesterday. According to Václav Dvořák, an opposition councillor for the Allies, the company used cheaper materials and the damage is estimated at CZK 150,000. The town council will take up the matter at its next meeting.

The apartment building with about 60 flats is owned by the town. Repairs costing CZK 13 million were completed two years ago. According to Dvořák, it turned out that the company used cheaper building materials but invoiced the price for the planned more expensive ones. “Moreover, the materials used are a safety hazard in case of fire,” the councillor added.

Konvalinka said the construction company may have committed misconduct and the city could be in the position of a victim in such a case. “I can’t say more about that in view of the ongoing investigation,” the Mayor added.
