Polish authorities tighten restrictions on public movement

25 March 2020

Polish authorities have unveiled new restrictions on public movement in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The new measures, to be enforced until at least April 11, ban all public events or gatherings. Groups of only two people will be allowed in public with exception of families. Religious events of up to five people are allowed, however the government recommends participating in religious services via multimedia. Public transport will continue to operate, but no more than half of the available seats may be taken. People who violate the restrictions on public movement may be fined up to PLN 5,000. Residents are allowed to leave their homes to buy food or medicine or to go to work or volunteer.
